Shingle Inn Joondalup Celebrates National Franchisee Award Win

Shingle Inn is proud to congratulate Vic and Anne Terpkos of Shingle Inn Joondalup, who have been named Franchisee of the Year: Single Unit – Hospitality, by the Franchise Council of Australia.

The award recognises the incredible care, consistency and dedication Vic and Anne have brought to their café, their customers, their team and their local community.

Vic and Anne first joined the Shingle Inn family in 2012, opening Shingle Inn Belmont Forum, the very first Shingle Inn café in Western Australia. In 2016, they took over Shingle Inn Joondalup and have since built a thriving business known for its warm hospitality, strong customer loyalty and commitment to quality.

For many guests, Shingle Inn Joondalup has become much more than a place to enjoy coffee, cake, breakfast or lunch. It is a familiar and welcoming space where customers are known by name, families return time and time again, and the team takes pride in creating memorable everyday moments.

Vic is often the familiar face customers see front-of-house, whether he is greeting guests, serving at the register or supporting the team during busy periods. Behind the scenes, Anne plays a vital role in ensuring the kitchen and operations run smoothly, with systems and standards that help the team consistently deliver the quality Shingle Inn customers know and love.

Together, they have created a team culture built on care, communication and genuine service. Many of their team members have been with the business for several years, a reflection of the positive workplace and strong leadership Vic and Anne have built.

Their connection to the local community has also become a meaningful part of the Joondalup story. Over the past 12 months, Shingle Inn Joondalup has provided approximately 2,500 Encouragement Awards to local sporting clubs, helping celebrate young players and their achievements. Vic and Anne have also supported local community groups, raffles and fundraising initiatives with vouchers, coffee offers and Shingle Inn favourites.

Congratulations Vic, Anne and the entire Shingle Inn Joondalup team on this well-deserved achievement. We are so proud to celebrate this incredible recognition with you!

Barista of the Year Finals 2026

The Shingle Inn Barista of the Year Finals returned for another exciting competition, celebrating the skill, creativity and passion of our talented baristas from across the country.

This year’s finalists each brought something truly special to the competition, showcasing not only their technical coffee skills, but also their personality, creativity and pride in their craft. From rich, dessert-inspired drinks to refreshing iced creations, every finalist delivered a signature beverage that reflected their individual style.

Congratulations to Amber from North Lakes, Taylah from Joondalup, Hailey from Fountain Gate and Manmeet from Strathpine!

And the Winner is…

Congratulations to Hailey from Fountain Gate, our 2026 Shingle Inn Barista of the Year!

Hailey impressed the judges with her incredible attention to detail, winning everybody over with her signature bear latte art before presenting a drink that felt personal to her and her interests. Inspired by her love of baking, her white chocolate, brown butter and macadamia frappe brought together her creativity, skill and personality in a way that felt truly special.

As our 2026 winner, Hailey took home a Breville Barista Touch™ Impress, valued at $1,999.

We were also proud to award the Rising Star Award to Taylah from Joondalup, who impressed with her creativity, confidence and beautifully executed Campfire Mocha.

Celebrating Our Finalists

We are incredibly proud of Amber, Taylah, Hailey and Manmeet for the creativity, confidence and skill they brought to this year’s finals. Each finalist showed a genuine love of coffee, a willingness to try something new and the ability to beautiful drinks and memorable experiences.

The Barista of the Year competition continues to be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the people behind the coffee.

Instead of paying for your slice, we simply invite you to donate to the Nine Telethon supporting Mater Little Miracles, helping fund life-saving care for Mater’s tiniest patients.
